I met Alix, the owner of Joyaltee, about 2 years ago when I stumbled upon her Instagram page. I was immediately engaged, excited by what I saw, and wanted to know more. This incredible woman had figured out to way to take old, unwanted clothing, and make them new, stylish and fun to wear. She is nothing short of a magician, with an environmentally friendly vision.
Alix Joyal started her business, Joyaltee, est. 2014, as a means to undertake a position as a SAHM to her two small children. She's had 25 years of sewing experience and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Textile Development and Fashion Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Folks, she is the real deal.
Joyaltee pants (and now dresses) are created from truly up cycled garments, meaning every pair is made from a preexisting article of clothing. Alix uses discarded t-shirts, dresses, pants, you name it, which she obtains from a major textile recycler in Texas, to create unique, one-of-a-kind stylish bottoms for children.
Each garment is hand cut and sewn by Alix herself, one piece at a time, to preserve integrity and uniqueness. Alix takes great pride in her work, and makes it a point to deliver only the highest quality product.
With over 25,000 Instagram followers, and that number increasing steadily, I think it is safe to say that Joyaltee has created a niche of their own in the world of kids fashion. I am proud to say that I outfit my own children in Alix’s wonderfully unique and “green” clothing.
