Instagram Small Shop Community Rallies to Support Child Burn Accident Victim
September 13, 2016
Tragedy can happen to anyone.
We birth our children. We hold our babies. We love them. We kiss them. We nurse them to health. We heal their boo boos, we try. We are expected to do it all.
What if there is something that you cannot fix?
A long hospital stay and recovery.
Time off work.
There is a feeling of isolation that overcomes you in those white, sterile halls. I know. I’ve been there myself. You are on an island, with your child. Your injured child.
And there’s time. All there is is time, and loads of it.
There’s hope, also, of course.
The only thing that really touches you is the worry of “will he be okay” and “can I offer him the best of everything to recover”? Can I afford all of this?
There is a mother suffering right now. Her baby has been injured.
We can help ease some worry. We can help elicit a smile, maybe.
The story of what happened has been written here. You can also independently donate to this family on that site.
The pain that she is feeling has been expressed here.
There is an AUCTION FOR TIMOTHY which has been set up here.
Many small shops have donated to this cause, in the hopes that money can be raised to help Timothy's family pay for the travel expenses they must now endure and the leave from work they must now arrange for. In addition, there will be medical expenses that they will eventually be responsible for. Timothy is expected to remain in the hospital for at least next two (2) months, a lengthy hospital stay.
Go read everything, and then go participate in the auction, because we are every mom. It could have been me. It could've been you. But, together, we can help.
You can help in other ways, too, and many already have. Timothy has received an outpouring of love from the rep community. I’m positive that the love was embraced and received.
You can help further by spreading news of the auction, this story, and letting people know that things like this can happen. They can happen to any one of us.
Share this post and help get the word out about the auction, even if you cannot participate - that is plenty.
Thank you all for reading this!
And, of course, if you are a Hip Kid Apparel fan, we have donated a $40 shop credit, which can be seen here, so please consider bidding!
**Please note that Sandra, Timothy’s mother has not read this post, or even endorsed it.
