So, I must start off this blog post with an apology. Hey Kid Boutique was our September Shop Feature winner, and here it is, nearly November! Yikes. I let time get away from me on this one, and for that, I apologize. I will try and make it up to you all at the very end of this post....so, read on!
Meet the Owner of Hey Kid Boutique - Amber, who describes herself as modern, unique and girly!
"Hey! I'm Amber, a mom to two girls! When I'm not being an adult I fully enjoy hanging with my friends and drinking wine. I love the thought of working out and I try...I also love sushi. Lots of sushi. I don't spend much time away from my girls being a stay at home mom, so other than my shop, my hobbies are limited! For now."
Mmmmm. Wine and Sushi. But, I digress.
Hey, Amber! We are so happy to meet you. Tell the readers, when and why did you start your brand? What was your inspiration?
I got really bored watching Netflix every night (blasphemy!). I needed to be creative. I don't like crafts because I don't like clutter. A few skirts, and my brand took shape. Non retail looking clothes was my inspiration. My youngest has her own style and we went with it.
I come from a long line of women that sew. My mom even made my wedding dress (such a dream come true). I feel like I'm carrying on a family tradition in a new modern way and knowing they are proud of me makes it all worth it.
Tell us something that you think makes your brand unique? What makes you different?
I only make things that I like, or I'd want my kids to wear and that's ok. I don't need to make things that are trendy just because. There's more than enough shops to go around. We can all be different and I don't need to change. I like that best!
And, without trying, you really are setting trends.
What do you have planned for the future?
I'm hoping to transform to a "ready to ship" store. It's a tough leap to take but I think the customer will be happier not waiting. I will have a large Christmas drop and one more fall drop. Can't wait! They are my favorite seasons!
